‘Board’ Exhibition on at NGV Studio

Posted by MUNNERS | Artists, Frothing, News, Skateboards

Allowing an insight into the creativity behind skate culture, ‘Board‘ explores the evolution of deck graphics and design.

With curatorial contribution from NGV Senior Curator of Contemporary Art Alex Baker, Board features historically significant skateboard decks drawn from the collection of Tony Hallam – one of the most comprehensive of its kind in the world, alongside a selection of decks by contemporary artists.

In conjunction with NGV Studio, Just Another Agency has selected over 50 of Australia’s best established and emerging artists to take part in the group show ‘Board’.

Juxtaposing the old with the new, each artist has donated their time to produce an original work of art using a skate deck as their canvas. These decks will then be sold to help raise much needed funds for the innovative ThreeSixtyProject.

Artists include… 23rd Key – Aida Sabic – Alex Lehours – Alex Lousia – Apeseven – Aramas – Bec Hulme – Bec Winnel – Ben Ashton Bell – Ben Brown – Bennett – Caitlin Rigby – Cam Scale – Cat Rabbit – Cinzah Seekayem – Deb – Dilly – Drypnz – Dvate – Ears – Fat Ankle – Flake – Gary Seaman – Gemma Jones – Gore – Heesco – Itch – Jack Douglas – Joshua Smith – Kaitlin Beckett – Karlosh – Ken Taylor – Kirpy – KID9 – Luke Ryan – Leisha Muraki – Makatron – Michael Steele – Phibs – Pierre Lloga – Poise – Qwux – Rebecca Murphy – Rena Littleson – Sam Octigan – Sear – Shannon Crees – Shaun Campbell (SQUIDTANK) – Steve Cross – Taylor White – Tom Ferson – The Hungry Work Shop – Vato… and More!

Just Another Agency will also be showcasing a number of live painting demonstrations over the 3 month period, giving the public the opportunity to stop by the studio space to see artists at work. Each workshop will feature 2 artists of similar subject matters and medium, while each diverse in their own right.

Exhibition runs from 12th Nov 2011 – 5th Feb 2012! @ NGV Studio, Melbourne

Posted by MUNNERS | News

My my my. I cannot express in words how amazingly stoked I am with how our inaugural ONE x ONE x ONE exhibition went. We traveled to Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast with 55 decks that included 20 stable artists, 10 local artists from each location, and 5 laser-etched decks. The numbers at each event far exceeded our expectations and thanks to the generosity of those that attended we managed to raise some much-needed funds for Three Sixty Project.

There are a few photos below, but to see the complete albums click below:

Three Sixty Project presents ONE x ONE x ONE

Posted by MUNNERS | Artists, Frothing, News

ONE x ONE x ONE

Three Sixty Project launches ONE x ONE x ONE, a traveling art exhibition developed in the aim of generating funds to fuel projects that benefit underdeveloped youth markets globally.

Heading to three of Australia’s skateboard capitals Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast, and with artwork curated in a collaborative effort by Qwux (Rah Collective), Josh Thorsen (Kid9) and Just Another Agency, the show will exhibit 55 skateboard artworks designed by a range of prolific Australian artists including Ben Brown, Bennett, Rebecca Murphy, Mr Singh, Cupco and Mia Taninaka, of which when sold, all profits will go into youth community projects.

The concept of art and skateboarding is nothing new, as both have long gone hand-in-hand as popular forms of creative expression.

The event features some of Australia’s best artistic talent and is supported by uprising galleries Lo-Fi (Sydney), No Vacancy (Melbourne) and 19Karen Gallery (Gold Coast) bringing together the art and skateboarding communities in an atmosphere that encourages the cultivation of expression and philanthropy.

“There is no doubt that Three Sixty Project would not be where it is without the support of individuals, businesses – and in this case – Artists and Sponsors. The generosity of everyone involved allows us to maximise the impact we can have on the lives of under-privileged youth all over the world, and through the amazing sport of skateboarding.” Paul Munro – Founder, Three Sixty Project

Funds are raised by the sales of decks available on the night and online at www.threesixtyproject.com ,gold coin donation and huge raffles of product donated by project sponsors VANS, SDS, The House of Marley, Element, Billabong, Alien Workshop and Blackberry.

About ONE x ONE x ONE

The ever-changing relationship between art and skateboarding is one that goes back to the very roots of this iconic sport. Skaters roll on boards adorned with graphics as colourful as the riders themselves, and collectors fill their walls with irreplaceable, limited edition decks.

It was only a matter of time before artists saw the opportunity of utilising the humble skate deck as an empty canvas – with potential to bring together the creative expression of art and the rich culture of skateboarding.

ONE x ONE x ONE pays homage to the creative talent we have in Australia, whilst raising funds for Skate Programs working with under-privileged youth all over the world. 2011’s inaugural exhibition sees 55 skate deck artworks travel to Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast, showcasing a diverse range of works by some of Australia’s most prolific artists.

Phillies Wrap Up!

Posted by MUNNERS | Frothing, News, Programs

A few weeks back we hooked up with Des Rountree from One Friday to support his team of skaters that head to the Philippines each year. Here is how it went down, straight from Des himself:

Most of the skaters we have been in touch with live in the Bicol Region in the Philippines, though each year we are covering more areas. Many of the guys we spent time with have come from a background of violence, gang wars, broken homes and drug addictions. They really see skateboarding as a way out of that lifestyle – something positive for them to invest time into.

Whilst there our mission was clear, simply to “do life” with the locals and encourage them in their skateboarding. We did a series of skate competitions, some for the beginners and some for the more advanced. Each comp was different – we really wanted to reward a variety of styles and abilities so that a broad number of them participated and had fun. We also planned a two-day course for skateboarders to come along and learn some basic life principles, because the absence of a good role model is consistent across the skate scene over there.

There is plenty of talent in the Philippines. If given the opportunities we have here in the western world, some of these guys could definitely have a future in the sport. It’s safe to say skateboarding has a solid future in Bicol as it’s grown a considerable amount in the three years that I’ve been visiting the country – I’m looking forward to more visits in the not too distant future.

Go Skateboarding Day in Cambodia

Posted by MUNNERS | News, Programs

Go Skateboarding Day Cambodia

The newly formed Skateistan Cambodia recently hosted Go Skateboarding Day in Phnom Penh. This is the Program we supported a few months back by donating 20 decks and 10 complete skateboards, as well as some safety gear – and sent 2 guys over to help build the first skate park in the country. It’s so awesome to now see the local kids skitching behind trucks and rolling so confidently! Three Sixty in the Phillies!

Posted by MUNNERS | News, Programs

Three Sixty Project Philippines

When an opportunity to ship some Three Sixty love to the Philippines popped up, we jumped on it right away. The Phillies is one of the countries I first had in mind to support when establishing the Project – and here we are, about to send 10 brand new Three Sixty Project skateboards to this beautiful country in Southeast Asia.

One Friday Skate Ministry is based in Queensland, Australia, but works with skateboarding youth all over the country. They travel to skate parks in remote locations and just hang with the kids in the local area, making a positive difference in their lives and hooking them up with product and new skills.

They also send a team of volunteers overseas on a regular basis, including a trip to the Philippines every year. They have built ongoing relationships with the local skaters over there and look forward to catching up and encouraging them again in May 2011 – once again aiming to make a difference in their lives. This year we have teamed up with One Friday by supplying them with 10 decks to take on their travels. To support the work these guys are doing be sure to grab a Three Sixty Project deck here – we need to sell 10 before we can send 10!

Keep an eye out for a wrap-up of the trip. For regular updates be sure to Like us on Facebook too.

The Story of Cfu

Posted by MUNNERS | Artists, News, Skateboards

The Story of Cfu

Let me introduce you to Cfu. This is a kid that played somewhat of an important role in the creation of Three Sixty Project, and is no doubt a friend I’ll have for life. I first met Cfu when on a business trip to Indonesia, and he was the nicest guy I had ever met. He loves life, he loves art and he LOVES skating. After hanging out with him for a week he inspired me to do something different, and Three Sixty was born!

I was filled in on the fact that Cfu had started his own T-Shirt brand, and some of the designs he created were insane. He explained to me that he wanted to do Graphic Design but he wouldn’t be able to go to University over there as it was too costly. After everything Cfu had done for us, we really wanted to hook him up and this was the perfect opportunity. Through Three Sixty Project, we were able to buy Cfu a brand new laptop to use for his design work. The catch? He had to design 2 skateboard graphics for us.

The good news? You can now buy them online at threesixtyproject.com. Swing by and check out the 2 latest graphics from Cfu – ‘Mummy‘ and ‘Ahh-Cfu‘.

Love you bro – keep up the sick work!

Three Sixty features on Eye See Media

Posted by MUNNERS | News

We were approached by Eye See Media to do a Q&A on the project. Here is the intro to the article and a link to the page. Thanks Eye See!

The Three Sixty Project, in Sydney, Australia, is helping people all over the world find freedom, creativity and community.

By designing specialized skate decks and selling on a One-for-One model, Three Sixty Project is able to donate boards and resources to communities that improve kids’ lives. Paul Muno started the Project with a passion for skate and a heart to help. He spent some time telling us what it is all about – the simplicity of generosity.

Spend 5 minutes with a World-Changing Skater…
